The present quality standards apply to the work of the member projects of the Bundesverband Queere Bildung in anti-discrimination and educational work in schools and child and youth welfare institutions. Content formulated as standard is binding for all members. Recommendations are voluntary and can be made standard by member groups, but not vice versa. Members can decide on specific additions to these nationwide standards, which then apply to their state network or local project. These must not contradict general federal standards. The present standards were developed and approved on May 22, 2017 at the federal networking meeting for all education and awareness-raising projects. Since May 6th, 2018, the binding nature of the standards for all members has been laid down in the association’s statutes.
The formal, content and didactic minimum standards serve to ensure quality, transparency and further professionalization of queer educational work. They represent recommendations/orientation aids for newly created educational projects. They are therefore also a central basis for the offers of the model project “Closing educational gaps – establishment, qualification and strengthening of queer educational projects in structurally weak regions nationwide”, which has been dedicated to the sustainable promotion and further development of the lsbtiaq+ educational and anti-discrimination work in Germany.
